Taipei Songshan: 04-10 June

I suspect no one saw the best visitor here this week: SR JET Legacy 500 B-3385 was in for an hour early on 9-JUN.

Of the rest, HYUNDAI’s BBJ HL8290 was probably the star, but Cessna U206 Float Plane D-EBIW has to be a close second. There were a some unusual biz visitors too including Globals N788ZJ, OY-LGI, and 9H-VJS.

Taipei Taoyuan: 03-09 June 2017

Big news this week was the start of an AIR CANADA service from Vancouver. First one was on 9-JUN using Boeing 787-9 C-FRSR (and on a personal note friends and neighbours, that puppy was well received indeed!). [ACA11] has an ETA of 14:15 and [ACA12] departs at 15:55 and I believe it’s a daily flight.

As much as the AIR CANADA triple was nice, on a professional level EMIRATES A380 A6-EUQ on 5-JUN was perhaps more satisfying as this was the first visit of one of their Rolls-Royce powered A380. It may well have been the first time a Rolls-Royce A380 has been here too.

Other than that, it was fairly quiet. SCOOT Boeing 787 9V-OFI made a first visit. Dreamlifter N718BA arrived for some TLC at EGAT and ANA swapped their Boeing 787 that’s there with JA819A being replaced by JA821A. That last one means I made 3 Triple-Sevens this week!

Sole biz was local A318 B-55411 which was in and out on 8-Jun.

Taipei Songshan: 28-May – 03-Jun 2017

Another week, another Frenchie. Another Gulfstream G650 too. The Frenchie was Falcon 900LX F-HRAY and the Gulfstream was N368GW. There were some other G650s too including B-88322 making a return from wherever it’s been hiding recently. The week was ended off quite nicely with VISTAJET MALTA Challenger 9H-VFH.

One I’m not sure about was Embraer 145 HL8054 of KOREAN EXPRESS AIR. Something pinging A9558D (which equates to N700LE which is a different E145 that I think is in storage) and using  a KOREAN EXPRESS call-sign of [KEA902] landed somewhere on 2-JUN and then left on 3-JUN. FR24 shows A9558D still as N700LE but it also shows it has occasionally been using a call-sign of HL8054. I think it landed here at TSA but none of the locals seem to have seen or reported it which makes me wonder if it landed at Fuzhou which is just across the Taiwan Strait (my SBS picks up stuff landing there). All I can tell from FR24 is that it was at XSP earlier in the week and headed north from there on the 2nd.

I’m once again indebted to 蘇昱夫 and Charlie Cheng from the Private Flight Alliance Facebook group for the following.

Diamonds B-88123 and N858BR

I’ve made a quick raid on this excellent Facebook group to share a couple of things from the lighter side of aviation in Taiwan.

First up is one from Johnny Chung. It’s Diamond DA-40NG B-88123 (msn 40.N088).

Next one is one that seems to be based around here. It’s another Diamond. This time DA-42NG N858BR (msn 42.N122). From what I can tell, this one is connected to EVA rather than APEX Aviation who operate the other Diamonds on the island. With thanks to Chung Cheng Hsueh.

A340-313 B-18806 (msn 433) China Airlines’ last A340 appears to have been retired as scheduled at the end of May. It operated [CAL915/CAL916] to and back from Honkers on 31-May and hasn’t flown since.

Meanwhile, the new A350 B-18907 (msn 105) flew its first service on 29-May as [CAL073]. This was supposed to be to Amsterdam but it ended up in Brussels instead. Not sure what went wrong at AMS (there were apparently lengthy delays for arriving aircraft), and ‘907 diverted to BRU because of fuel concerns.

The airline has ceased operations to Taiwan. The last service was operated on 23/24-May as [DAL69/DAL578] by Boeing 767-300ER N156DL.

Taipei Taoyuan: 27-May – 02-Jun 2017

The highlight for me this week was the balloon in Taoyuan City that was the subject of my last post. It was just as well I saw that as over here at TPE it a bit slow. We did have one very nice biz but, unfortunately for me, it was Seletar based Gulfstream G150 VH-PFV. Still, nice to see it again. Here’s a photo courtesy of Murad Hashan.

Little else to report other than a trio of first visits on 29-May.

On the maintenance scene, JA706A an ALL NIPPON Boeing 777 that I hadn’t realised was here departed on 1-Jun.

Ultramagic M-120 B-00006

Wasn’t expecting to see this in the local park this morning. Apparently there’s going to be some Star Wars balloons here in June. This one came up from Taitung to be present at a press-conference launching the event. I’m hoping to attend one of the launches so watch this space.

Taipei Songshan: 21-27 May 2017

Sir Thomas of Cruise was in town this week to promote his latest movie. The Short One arrived on his Gulfstream IV-SP N808T on 24-May and departed the following evening. The 24th was a busy day with Gulfstream G450 N483CM and VISTAJET MALTA Global 9H-VJM also in. Normally one of those would have earned a photo here, but they were trumped at the death by the arrival of Dassault’s Falcon 8X F-HFSD on 27-May. Pretty sure that’s a first visit of the type to Songshan and indeed the island. It came in from Jeju and departed to Seletar. With thanks to Eddie Tang, here’s a photo.

One other visitor of note was  an old friend from Singapore: ORIENT GLOBAL’s BBJ VP-BEL which was in for a couple of days.

China Airlines B-18907 A350 Hex Code

My new toy’s hex is 8990F4 which used to belong to MANDARIN AIRLINES Embraer 190 B-16826 (which I believe is currently stored at Warsaw as M-ABJD).

Just thought you’d like to know…

Taipei Taoyuan: 20-26 May

Quite a bit to talk about this week, so let’s get right into it…

SCOOT Boeing 787-8 9V-OFH made a first visit on 20-May and also returned later on the same day.

We had the last of the Antonov AN-124 visits on 21-May with UR-82027 arriving (this time from (KRW) not (DAC)) and departing the following day.

Honkers was down to one runway for a few hours on Wednesday 24-May and there were a few diversions to TPE. Apparently B-6366 CHINA EASTERN A321 slid off of the runway while landing in heavy rain. I don’t know how many diversions we eventually had, but 3 caught my eye.

First was JET AIRWAYS Boeing 777-300ER VT-JES.

Jet Airways B777-35RER VT-JES

Jet Airways B777-35RER VT-JES

This was followed by one that attracted professional interest too; ASIANA A450-941 HL8078.

Asiana A350-941 HL8078

Asiana A350-941 HL8078

Final one was JA05KZ a NIPPON CARGO Boeing 747-400. Many thanks to Hung-Hsin, Hu for the excellent photos.

Also in on 24-May was a CHINA EASTERN B-2020 Boeing 777-300ER. There was another one of these on 25-May too: B-7343.

Our sole biz of the week arrived on 25-May in the shape of returning EVA BBJ N888YF.

The week was rounded off in style with a couple of EMIRATES arrivals. Boeing 747-400ER OO-THC arrived just after lunch. It was operating [UAE9866] which normally arrives on a Saturday and is usually operated by a Boeing 777-200F. The freighter was preceded by Triple-Seven A6-ENI which arrived from DXB as [UAE2630].

Emirates B747-4HAFER OO-THC

Emirates B747-4HAFER OO-THC

As well as all of that, there were a few maintenance movements too, and of course the previously documented arrival of my 6th baby: B-18907. So read on dear chaps, read on…

CHINA AIRLINES have taken delivery of their 6th A350. B-18907 (msn 105) arrived at Taoyuan this afternoon (25-May). Here’s a photo of her at Toulouse just before departure. And no, Keith, the wheelbarrow isn’t for my salary; it’s not big enough!

Boeing 737s B-18605 (130/28404) and B-18606 (132/28405) are currently WFU at TPE. ‘605 is all white, and ‘606 is also white but has the remnants of the CAL colour-scheme on its nose. There was also another CAL Boeing 737-800 in bare metal here last week, but I think that was one being repainted rather than one being WFU.

EVA AIRWAYS
1Blog Thumb EVA
A330-203 B-16309 (661) is currently in an all white colour-scheme and parked at TPE. It was in a Hello Kitty scheme and EVA announced that they were going to paint some of the ‘Kitty Jets’ in different schemes, but I think ‘309 has probably been WFU as EVA are slowly getting rid of their A330-200s.

Taipei Songshan: 14-20 May 2017

My recent choices for ‘star visitor of the week’ seem to be akin with story of Goldilocks And The 3 Bears. Two weeks ago it was a spindle: Cirrus-Design SR-22, last week some heavy metal: an Antonov An-124, and this week it’s something pretty much in the middle: an A318.

GCL Poly Energy’s  B-6936 arrived at Songshan on Monday and left on Wednesday. Many thanks to Chung Cheng Hsueh for the photo.

Other biz are worthy of mention; Global T7-LRW; G450 N904G; G550s B-8128, N888HK, N888XS.

Finally, DA-42 N858BR turned up as well.

Taipei Taoyuan: 14-19 May 2017.

The ANTONOV AIRLINES’ An-124s dominated proceedings this week, with UR-28029 returning again and UR-82027 also turning up. All have come from Dhaka and departed to Turkmenbashi. I’m told there will be one more flight next week.

After a period of absence, JC INTERNATIONAL returned again with pretty much a daily service (there wasn’t one on Friday). I’ve reported them below this week, but probably won’t bother in future.

Just two biz: B-3799, a Chinese Legacy.  B-6936 GCL Poly Energy’s A318 came in from TSA; more of which tomorrow in the TSA round-up. EVA’s BBJ N888YF emerged from hiding and departed to Manila; it has been here since 14-Mar-2017.

What’s that? No photo? Oh, go on then, here’s one.

SHANDONG AIRLINES operate a couple of daily flights to Taipei from Qingdao and although she wasn’t in this week, Boeing 737-800 B-5491 is a regular visitor.
