I’m glad it wasn’t just me who was concerned by EVA’s antics during the recent typhoon. The CAA announced today that they are going to investigate the airline for various landings and attempted landings at both Taipei Airports on the day of Typhoon Megi. On a related note, footage is now going round showing a … Continue reading
Well, this won’t take long. Typhoon Megi scored a direct hit on Taiwan and (unlike the last two typhoons) caused all sorts of mayhem in Taipei. Even my local Starbucks was closed; I mean, really? Not the worst typhoon I’ve experienced, but it was a bad one. TPE closed around lunchtime but most of the … Continue reading
SKYMARK Boeing 737-800 JA737R, left us today following its maintenance. In advance of Typhoon Megi’s arrival, DELTA cancelled the evening flight from NRT. Other than that everything else operated (this was indeed a case of calm before the storm). Movements Cathay Pacific Airways B-LRA A359: [-/CX463] Delta Air Lines N156DL: [-/DL166] Emirates Airlines A6-EOX A388: … Continue reading
Any typos or errors today will be down to the unfeasibily large glass of merlot that I’m drinking while taking shelter from Typhoon Megi. AIRCALIN A330-300 F-OHSD, has departed after its spell with EGAT on maintenance. While on the subject of maintenance, there’s an ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS aircraft with EGAT but as FR24 hasn’t recorded … Continue reading
Don’t know if CAL are going to paint any of their A350s in special schemes or not. If not, we’ve got others in their fleet to look out for. A330-300 B-18358 is in a ‘Masalu! Taiwan’ scheme (which celebrates some of the Taiwanese indigenous tribes) and is pictured here at Singapore last year. It was … Continue reading
DAILY AIR’s latest DHC-6-400, C-GVAT (msn 937), arrived in Taiwan on 23-SEP-2016. It was tracking on FR24 coming south and overflew Songshan and presumably went to Taichung or Tainan. It was in Kagoshima on 21-SEP-2016 but I don’t know if it came direct from there. It is due to become B-55575 in due course. Smiley Taipei: … Continue reading
Taoyuan International Today saw (that’s really not the right word) me miss the 3rd brand new triple-seven this week. PH-BVR was the culprit this time. Unlike the other two, I knew this one was coming but was unable to get out of a meeting to see it. EVA’s new triple, B-16730, operated its first service … Continue reading
Taoyuan International Nothing unusual to report today other than a Boeing 777-200ER on the KLM flight. It’s all go isn’t it? Movements Cathay Pacific Airways B-LRA A359: (CX472/CX473] Delta Air Lines N153DL B763: [DL167/-] N198DN B763: [-/DL166] Emirates Airlines A6-EOP A388: [UAE366/UAE367] and if anyone does actually read these movements I can confirm that yesterday’s … Continue reading

Last one from me today. It’s getting all up close and personal with a MANDARIN AIRLINES Fokker 50 back in 2001. The location this was taken from is still used by spotters and I hope to be going there again soon.
Another raid of the archives. This one’s going on FlickR but I thought I’d share it here too. It’s a Japanese Coast Guard Super Puma. I worked at Haneda for a year in 2002/2003 and this was one of a number of gems I photographed.
Taoyuan International A maintenance departure today: SKYMARK Boeing 737-800 JA73NE left us. Catching up with some news. EVA AIRWAYS have sent Boeing 747-400 B-16402 for storage at Victorville. It departed from here on 16-SEP (with thanks to Skyliner). In case anyone at LHR is anxiously waiting for Boeing 777-300ER B-16730 to turn up, I can report … Continue reading
Here’s something of an oldie from one of my earlier spells in Taiwan. It was taken at Sungshan (as it was called then) on 18-APR-2002.
