I’ve made a quick raid on this excellent Facebook group to share a couple of things from the lighter side of aviation in Taiwan. First up is one from Johnny Chung. It’s Diamond DA-40NG B-88123 (msn 40.N088). Next one is one that seems to be based around here. It’s another Diamond. This time DA-42NG N858BR … Continue reading
Wasn’t expecting to see this in the local park this morning. Apparently there’s going to be some Star Wars balloons here in June. This one came up from Taitung to be present at a press-conference launching the event. I’m hoping to attend one of the launches so watch this space. Smiley, Taoyuan, 1-Jun-2017.
The ‘Breitling’ DC-3 HB-IRJ is currently working its way round the world. It was in Taipei for a couple of days last week. With grateful thanks to Clarence Jing-Ping Fu, here are a couple of photos of it landing at Songhan. Should you be interested, you can read more about it here and here. Smiley … Continue reading
Well I never. This is my 1,000th post. I’m quite pleased about that. I”d like to thank those that are still reading my ramblings because if I wasn’t getting any visitors to the blog I would have stopped long before I left Singapore and certainly wouldn’t have restarted again this year. I’d also to like … Continue reading
Those of you under 12 years old may be interested to know that I’ll be sharing some of the photos from the blog on Facebook. For now it will just be Songshan but I will probably add another page for Taoyuan at some point. As well as the modern photos that will also appear here, … Continue reading
I’m in the middle of the Entry Into Service (EIS) of the A350 into CHINA AIRLINES’ fleet and it’s proving to be an interesting one. So there’s not going to be much in the way of blogging for another couple of weeks. I am currently in Kaohsiung and I did manage to capture some images … Continue reading
Another raid of the archives. This one’s going on FlickR but I thought I’d share it here too. It’s a Japanese Coast Guard Super Puma. I worked at Haneda for a year in 2002/2003 and this was one of a number of gems I photographed.
Think I’ve had enough blogging for one day. I’ll post some movements tomorrow. I’ll leave you with one question though. Just how strong were the winds while Typhoon Meranti passed over the island yesterday? This video should give you some idea… Smiley Taipei, 14-Sep-2016.
Okay, I know it’s nothing to do with the current remit of this blog (which is aviation in Taiwan), and I can’t even claim to have ever supported DRAGONAIR or worked in Honkers for any length of time in the past, so there’s no connection there either. But, hey, it’s my blog and I’ll post … Continue reading
I see from my stat reports that despite the blog being in hibernation it is still getting visitors. So I thought I’d share the good news that I’ll soon be back. Having spent the winter at Gatwick and then Heathrow helping out with VIRGIN ATLANTIC, I’ve now been given my next posting. The stars have … Continue reading
After a couple of false starts, it seems that I’ll be out of here by the end of the month. No firm date yet, but my money’s on the 25th November. So, that’s pretty much the end of the blog in it’s current form. Current plan has me going to Heathrow. As Heathrow seems to be … Continue reading
Here’s a quick update on VP-CZW which is Boeing 737-7ZW (line#/msn 4730/38408). As I’ve reported before, it’s ex-M-GEAA. I can now confirm it uses a hex of 424777. It was flying around yesterday (10-SEP-15) using a call-sign of [SJM15]. So presumably that means it’s now operated by SINO JET MANAGEMENT. Smiley.
Here’s one I need some help with. Back in August, Gulfstream N34U was at Changi and Seletar. It’s hex was correct and it had N34U as a call-sign and I read it off myself. However according to the FAA it was re-registered to N506HG on 31-Jul-2015. N506HG was reported at Luton later on in the … Continue reading
Well, I’m back for a short spell. I stopped the blog in May as I was expecting to leave Singapore quite soon. The move is still on, but the best guess now is somewhere between end of October and the end of the year. So, I’ve decided to start some posts again. As you’ll see, … Continue reading
